    Crystalline aluminum chloride is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula AlCl 3 ·6H 2 O, also known as crystalline aluminum trichloride or hexahydrate aluminum chloride, has a molecular weight of 241.43 and a light yellow liquid appearance. It is non-combustible and readily soluble in water, anhydrous ethanol, ether, and glycerol. Its aqueous solution is acidic.

    The technical index is in accordance with the Chinese Chemical Industry Standard HG/T3541-2011.

    The production process of crystalline aluminum chloride varies depending on the raw materials. Some use metallic aluminum as a raw material, while others use bauxite. Domestically, bauxite is mainly used as the raw material for crystalline aluminum chloride.

             Crystalline aluminum chloride is also a type of inorganic flocculant and can be used in the treatment of drinking water and industrial water. In precision casting, crystalline aluminum chloride can replace ammonium chloride as a hardener for investment casting shells. It has advantages such as stable quality, high shell strength, easy adjustment, improved worker operating conditions, and good overall economic benefits.

             At present, most of China's precision casting production uses water glass as a binder. Ammonium chloride, magnesium chloride, and aluminum chloride are usually used as hardeners. However, during use, ammonium chloride releases ammonia gas, seriously worsening working conditions; magnesium chloride has high solution viscosity, affecting the hardening and drying speed. Moreover, its high impurity content easily causes defects such as shell delamination, peeling, and sand inclusion. Therefore, ammonium chloride and magnesium chloride are not suitable for the development of investment casting as hardeners, and manufacturers have successively adopted crystalline aluminum chloride to replace ammonium chloride and magnesium chloride as hardeners.
